No matter your longevity at UUCQC, you’ll meet lots of people and get to know them by working on the Welcome Team. Working on Welcome team provides you the opportunity to work closely with the congregation and its visitors through a series of social events. The primary function of this team is to facilitate a welcoming environment for our visitors, new members, and the entire congregation.
Primary goals of the Welcome Team include:
Sunday Morning Hospitality
To arrange for hospitality on Sunday mornings, including greeting attendees, ushering and passing out orders of service and hymnbooks, and making and serving coffee and treats for coffee hour after the services, the Welcome Team has established "hospitality teams." Each of these teams is composed of members and friends of the congregation. Every official member or friend is on a team. Each team offers hospitality only four weeks per year. When your hospitality team leader calls, please make every effort to help. It's an opportunity to meet many fellow congregants and serve the congregation.
If you'd like to join one of our hospitality teams, click here to contact us about your interest or ask questions. We'd welcome you!
"What my partner and I were seeking was the way to go from visitor to member. So let me say to anyone out there who is thinking about joining, consider this the sign you have been waiting for. If you need an invitation, consider yourself invited to join. If you are not sure if this is the welcoming community that you have been seeking, let me reassure you that you are welcomed here. People here will gladly help you take the steps to membership. The community you seek is seeking you too. Welcome"
"Seeing people every week , chit-chatting about everyday life or life on the grand scale really amounts to building relationships that rival those of actual family members. It means having a bunch of surrogate mothers, grandmothers, favorite uncles, cousins, and nieces. Sure, there are ups and downs with our UU family just as there are with our real families, but we resolve and learn and grow."
