Finance Committee

Know something about accounting and finance? Know the difference between a statement of assets and liability and a balance sheet? Been around UUCQC so that you are familiar with its operations? If so, your knowledge, skills and talents could be a great asset on this committee. Contact the Congregational Administrator at office@uucqc.org or 563-359-0816 to find out how to get started.
As an official standing committee of the Board of Trustees, the Finance Committee:
  • Annually reviews proposed budget allocation of committees funded or partially funded from the church budget.
  • Annually reviews operating cost of the church, including compensation of all staff.
  • Recommends annual budget allocations for review by the Board of Trustees and approval by the Congregation.
  • Reviews all items bearing on financial posture of church on a case-by-case basis.  Makes recommendations to Board of Trustees and/or Congregation.

Our Treasurer and Minister are both ex officio members of the Finance Committee.

Endowment

The Endowment Team accepts proposals for special projects and programs not incorporated in the congregation’s annual budget.  They then select those projects that appear show the most congruity with the congregation’s mission for funding. Download the application here: Endowment Application.

Memorial Fund

Fundraising

Stewardship Team

Memorial Fund - When, upon a person’s death, an unspecified bequest is made to this Congregation, the bequest will normally be deposited into the Memorial Fund.  The Memorial Fund is designed to fund things of a permanent nature (like the playground or a new sidewalk or video projection equipment).
UUCQC holds several popular fundraisers each year. In the spring we hold the Coffee House and Silent Auction.  In the early summer we have a tremendous Rummage Sale.  Joining in these offers great times of working together, not only raising necessary funds for the operation of the congregation, but also providing a great time for all involved, workers and participants! Information on these events are featured in our weekly announcements leading up to the events.
Each year we also hold a number of less routine fundraisers. These may be in the form of a musical concert or performance, a speaker on a topic of interest (anything from religion and philosophy to social justice to humor and just plain fun).
We recognize one of the great truths of all the world's religions: generosity is central to a healthy life. Giving of time, talent or funds strengthens life's meaning.  Our mission and vision call upon us to welcome the stranger, to share our resources, and to care for our planet. This is stewardship.
Each Unitarian Universalist congregation is self-supporting. Our members provide time, talent, and funds to sustain UUCQC. We know that if this congregation is to be here for our children and grandchildren, we must support it now.

The Stewardship Team is a  year-round team which models and focuses the congregation on year-round generosity, be it time, talent, or treasure. Team members:
  • Are active and intentional stewards, modeling good and responsible stewardship
  • Plan and establish a year-round, comprehensive stewardship program
  • Plan and implement the annual budget drive campaign, which reflects the Congregation’s mission, vision, and priorities
  • Gather financial commitments from congregants, including new members
  • Provide regular updates to the congregation about stewardship, needs, and giving levels
  • Express appreciation and affirmation to all givers for their contributions
We also have a great deal of fun while we’re at it!  And we welcome newcomers.
